Xiaomi Pad 5 has been officially unveiled for the European and French market. We had the opportunity to try this new tablet, a real concentrate of technology, dedicated to productivity: here it is in our review. Looking for a great product from a performance point of view, but with a small price, this is the perfect device.
And in fact, the Xiaomi Pad 5 marks the return of the Chinese tech giant, which seemed to have given up on tablets, but obviously they decided that the time had come to reopen this chapter that seemed closed.
The technical characteristics of the Xiaomi Pad 5 are good, as well as its positioning on the market is perfect in our opinion: €399,90 for its 6 + 128 GB version which is, as already mentioned, the only one officially present on our market.
The Xiaomi Smart Pen can however be purchased separately: €99,90 for those who wish to extend the functionality of the device.
- Xiaomi Pad 5: €399,90
- Xiaomi Smart Pen: €99,90
In the box of this Xiaomi tablet we only find the essentials, as befits this category of products: you will need the 33W charger and the USB Type-C cable, in addition to the quick guide and the warranty card . The USB Type-C to 3,5 mm jack adapter is not included, an accessory that we would have appreciated in the absence of the audio port.
The result is excellent, so much so that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is a more than concrete alternative to the iPad 10.2 of 2021.
Not only is the Pad 5 similarly priced to the iPad, it has a nicer screen, nearly equal processing power, and long battery life, making it ideal as a productivity, studio, or music booster. entertainment.
The key feature here that makes the Xiaomi Pad 5 tablet ideal for productivity is in the software: we tend to think of Apple's iPad OS as generally a superior tablet operating system to Android, but Xiaomi clearly took notes and learned its lesson from Apple. MIUI for Pad, the Android fork that the company uses for Xiaomi Pad 5, has some key features that make it a tablet with a definite edge.
As in the case of Apple, Xiaomi accessories will have to be purchased separately. If you take a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 or S6, you will find the stylus in the box. Those who want a handy, almost essential accessory to add to their tablet-using arsenal will likely want both the keyboard and the stylus.
Even though Xiaomi's tablet is usable with your fingers, optional accessories generally enhance the tablet experience, so we recommend you consider them.
For some users, the lack of accessories in the box isn't a big deal, but it could be the lack of a 3,5mm jack or the fact that the selfie camera is on the short side of the device. 'screen. So it's not a good choice when you think about video calling or school lessons.
Looking at it as a whole, however, there's not much to review about the Mi Pad 5.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 is an exceptional tablet priced at 399,90 euros at which it is offered. Its modern and elegant design, the excellent screen, the fluid and fast software, Xiaomi has managed to give the best of what can make a tablet extremely pleasant to use or completely ruin the experience if it is not maintained.
Moreover, we believe that the Xiaomi Pad 5 is the only real economical alternative, which can directly compete with the iPad. Of course, there are compromises to be made: Touch ID is missing and the display isn't an OLED. However, comparing this tablet, with some compromises, to an iPad Pro 11, the fact that it costs more or less 1/3 is the most important data.
This tablet is a near-perfect work and entertainment machine. It won't completely replace a Windows PC or Mac for some users, as it isn't suitable for specific tasks such as video editing or programming, but it can become a great all-rounder for the family.
