Steps to turn input indicators on or off in Signal (Android)

  1. Open Signal Messenger on your phone.
  2. Next, click on your profile icon in the upper left corner.
  3. On the next screen, click Intimité.
  4. Here, enable or disable the toggle for Input indicators under Communications.

Steps to turn input flags on or off in Signal (iOS)

  1. Open the Signal app on your iPhone.
  2. Now click on your profile icon in the top left corner.
  3. Select Intimité from the list of available options.
  4. Here, enable or disable the toggle for Input indicators.

If it's off, others won't see the typing indicators as you type. At the same time, you will not see the input indicators for others. For obvious reasons, you and your contact must have this feature enabled to see this status.

Signal also comes with Missed Messages feature. Using the same, you can send self-destruct messages to others as described below.

  1. Open a chat in Signal Messenger.
  2. Press the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
  3. Click on Messages that disappear.
  4. Set the timer according to your taste.

Messages sent and received in that particular conversation will now automatically disappear after the set time. This is very useful for privacy-conscious people who don't want to keep chats or delete them manually.
